アメリカン・ミニマル・ミュージックの代表的作家の1人フィリップ・グラス。1971年にグラス本人が設立した自主レーベル「チャタム・スクエア・プロダクション」から1973年に発表したセカンド・アルバム。ジャケットは二種類存在し、こちらは後で出た方。
後の流麗な響きに比べると荒々しいとすら言えるミニマル・フレーズの渦に聴く者を巻き込みます。
Music In Similar Motion (1969) was recorded in June, 1971 at Martinson Hall of the Public Theatre, NYC using Butterfly Productions' 16 track mobile unit.
Music In Fifths (1969) was recorded in June 1973 at Butterfly Productions' New York studio.
