The fifth full-length album by Elodie, here expanding on the first concert by Elodie as a quartet given in Leuven, Belgium in November 2012, with Tom James Scott and Jean-Noel Rebilly : piano and clarinet respectively.

'Le manteau d’étoiles' collects ten airy instrumental spheres glowing and evaporating in a universal infinity like any moment in the panorama of everyday life.

Available in two versions;

100 copies special numbered edition - handmade cloth covered portfolio case, with wood cut prints to the cloth and Japanese language translations of all titles.
300 copies : regular edition.

All albums contain a specially printed double-sided insert and postcard set,

offset printed on 350 gramme cream paper stock

Le manteau d'etoiles (邦題：「星のとばり」)と題されたこのアルバムは、2012年11月にベルギーのルーヴェンにおけるライブをマテリアルにしたもので、Andrew ChalkとTimo Van Luijkのコアメンバーに、Tom James Scott (piano)とJean Noel Rebilly (clarinet) を加えた4人編成によるものです。

ElodieはAndrewとTimoのインプロヴァイザーとしての側面が強く出た作品が多く、最近では両者の（インプロヴァイザー）としての信頼関係が深まっていることから、音数を絞ったシンプルな音の「間」を聴かせる傾向がありますが、Le manteau d'etoilesでは4人編成での演奏により良い意味でアンサンブル的側面が全面に出た仕上がりとなっています。

かつてのBrian Enoがそうであったように、Andrewは自らをnon-musicianと称することが多いのですが、このアルバムではキャンバスに下絵なしに音で色を付けていくようなAndrewとTimoの演奏と、正規の音楽教育を受けたTom James ScottのHarold Buddにも似た情緒的なピアノの演奏が実にうまく噛み合っています。即興をベースとした演奏で、ここまでスケールの大きな世界を描き切ったことに驚きましたし、個人的にはElodieの作品として断トツの出来だと思います。David Sylvian and Holger Czukayの"Flux + Mutability"や"Plight and Premonition"と同類の美しさを持った作品です。
