美術 ： MAVO（マヴォ）

マヴォとは村山知義や柳瀬正夢らによって1923年7月に結成された前衛芸術集団で、当初は未来派の流れを 汲むメンバー構成であったが、よりラジカルに既成の価値観、芸術観、あるいは道徳観念すらも破壊する活 動を行った。機関紙「マヴォ」などによる印刷メディアによる複製芸術、ハプニングの要素を取入れたパフ ォーマンス，廃物を集積したような建築モデルなどの当時としては新奇な方法は常にセンセーショナルな話 題を巻き起こした。また結成直後に襲った関東大震災直後にはパフォーマンスを伴ったバラック装飾を行っ たことも知られる。 しかし、集団としては1925年までで、破壊から社会へ向けての構成，プロレタリア思想への傾斜などの意識 の変遷を要因とした離合集散が行われた。 当初の中心人物であった村山知義は、絵本などグラフィックアート、プロレタリア演劇の舞台装置などへの 関与など分野を超えた活動を行った人物であり、こうした活動の延長上で行われたマヴォによる震災バラッ クなどの建築は当時の既成の建築の通念では計測し難い行為であったと思われ、建築の領域に対する疑問符 をこの時代に提示した意義は大きいと感ずる。
